Good morning and hope you are doing all well 🙂
Most of us are not going out much and as a consequence spending more time indoors and not getting to wear our favourite outfits. For this blog post, I decided to play dress up 🙂
I enjoy watching tv series and obviously the fashion element in some of them makes the series more attractive to me 😉 Downton Abbey and Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries take me back to the 1920s, an era of elegance, where women started wearing pants and cutting their hair short. Feathers and sparkle were also very prominent. Another series which I enjoy watching is The Marvellous Mrs Maisel which takes you back to the 1950s and 60s, Women in wide skirts, colours, hats, gloves and man in suits and waistcoats…what elegance! This inspired me to open my wardrobe and look at outfits of today and give it a twist inspired by past decades.
The 1920s is an era I could go back to when it comes to fashion. I bought the dress I am wearing in the picture only last year, it is a timeless classic. The sparkle and feathers add sophistication. I added the feather boa and red lips for a 1920 feel.
My second outfit is inspired by a 1940s look, with A-line skirts being very in and coupled with hats (and you all know by now my love of hats). Inspired by this period, I opted for a faux leather wide skirt and a denim shirt for a more modern look and paired it up with a camel hat recently acquired 🙂
The last look I went for is inspired by the 1980s, which in all honesty is not my favourite from a fashion perspective, however we had many fun looks from that time. I didn’t go all out 80s for this look, a sporty dress and wore spotted tights and pearl pop socks with a pair of golden sandals. Have a closer look at the lip colour, I just got this new guerlain golden bloom Xmas collection lipstick, it gives a golden hue and you can wear it on its own or on top of other lips colours to add some golden sparkle 😉
So ladies, which eras inspire you? Do you go back in time and create an outfit today with a touch from a different time?
I hope you enjoyed this blog as much as I did creating these outfits 🙂
Wishing you all a lovely week ahead
