Wear your buns đŸ¤

Good afternoon ,

I hope the title of this blog post got you curious 😉

For all those who know me, I feel very strongly on what is acceptable (and not) to wear at the workplace in an office environment. Post Covid, less formal attire has become acceptable, which I have no problems with, but there are certain basic dos and don’ts which I believe still stand…however this post is not about office wear 😉 In summary, all I want to say is that there is a time and place for everything.

The moment I hit forty, I started asking myself…whether I should be changing my wardrobe, now a mature woman with (at times) expectations from society that over 40s should not wear mini skirts, crop tops, have long hair, not too many bright colours etc…

My view today…I ask myself the same questions I asked myself in my twenties and thirties:

  • Is it appropriate for the event?
  • Do I feel and look good in the outfit?
  • Does the outfit flatter my shape etc?

I strongly believe, that irrespective of age, the above should always be considered. Of course, we all have different tastes, and what is pretty to me may not be to your liking 🙂 Some people, and may I add, not all, will judge, will pass comments on your choice of outfit, hairstyle, shoes etc. It is hard to ignore such comments, I‘ve had a few at times, and I do tend to take them personally 😜 But then, what I choose to wear is a reflection of my mood and who I am…so go with it!

So when my hairdresser, who knows me too well, and knows how excited I get with trying new hairstyles, sends me a video clip of hair buns to try out…what better time to try it, if not when off on vacation to a beach place!

Some people may think it is a childish look, maybe. At age 46, I wore my hair buns proudly, I wanted a playful look, I was off on holiday mode, so it was the time to let go of the office look for a short while. Best compliment comes from a 3 year old girl who looked up at my hair and with her mouth wide open goes Woooowww ☺️

So ladies, wear your buns and be who you want to be. Fashion allows us to change style, be creative and feed our mood!

Wishing you all a great week ahead
